Restoration of the existing brick buildings, strengthening of the chimney, new buildings and paving.
Refurbishment of this prime historic site in central Auckland involved the creation of 80 new retail shops, cafes and restaurants from an historic building that was once a refuse station with a landmark chimney used for burning the city’s rubbish.
CMP Construction’s $600,000 preservation work on the 38m high chimney, built in 1905, was highly commended in the New Zealand Institute of Building Awards.
