A 16 level Hotel comprising 13 levels of Modular hotel rooms and 3 levels of reception, laundry, bar, café, restaurant this project is unique by its construction.
New Zealand’s truly first high-rise fully modular building comprises 201 building blocks, each one fully complete including the façade. A 16 story jump-form core was constructed on a complex site that was unique in its topography, shape, neighbours, and in-street services. There were 16 x Hotel Room modules per floor stacked atop each other over 13 levels and tied back to the concrete core. A significant transfer structure at level 3 carried the weight of the 201 modules which each weighed over 15 tonnes.
Careful logistics, pre-planning, and thinking outside the “box” were required.
